History:
The breeding started in 1969, with 1000 couples; it was not whereas an immense unoccupied greenhouse and vacuum. One arranged there birdcages and one withdrew glasses. One did not know too much at the time the breeding of pigeons of report/ratio. The American breedings existed well, but remained inaccessible. It was, for all those which took part in it in France, a beautiful adventure. But with their development, competition was done very hard at the end the Eighties. As always in these cases there, the breedings become more powerful, to resist the crises. One made come from the USA of the new races heavier and feeder: Hubbels coloured white and, Kings silver plated. French selectors appeared: Euro-pigeon. The techniques made evolve/move the breedings in a significant way, so that one considers most of the French breedings, very qualitative as well on the medical level as under his food and living conditions.
Situation:
The majority of the breedings are in country of the Loire and Brittany. But one also finds some in all the hexagon.
Roucoulade today, exploits 22000 couples of reproducers which produce 320000 young pigeons per annum.
Roucoulade is close to the Pyrenees and the Moors, in an area considered for its gastronomy and its soil.
Slaughter-house:
Roucoulade is shareholder, in a slaughter-house, counsel the EEC: the "Geonpis".
It is of recent construction. It in addition has to its chain of demolition, a room of cutting.
Here, all the standards of hygiene are scrupulously respected and controlled by the medical services. It is located at 8 km of Dax, in Pontonx, in the Moors. Several stockbreeders of the area and the departments bordering bring here, their young pigeons, each week.
